Lainey Wilson’s 2024 has been non-stop and filled with commitment after commitment. However, Wilson has now taken a pause, and amidst this pause comes a much-needed time of self-reflection. Although, when you are someone as decorated and busy as Lainey Wilson, where do you even start? Seemingly, that is the question asked and addressed in her recent interview with NME.

Wilson’s interview covered nearly every single thing that happened to her in the year of 2024. From tours to new music, Lainey Wilson opened up about everything and anything the publication asked her about. Although, the only topic that seemed to be bigger than herself was the one regarding the women of country music. For Wilson, the topic and or plight holds a lot of weight and space in her brain and also demands reflection and immediate action.
Lainey Wilson & Co’s Feminine Struggle
As a performer, Wilson has discovered a new found confidence. She stated, “I’m stepping into a confidence I lacked on the first or second record.” Thanks to this confidence, Wilson has seemingly taken on a task far larger than both herself and her career. A task that will help all of the women embedded in the world of country music.
“Getting to know women like Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire has shown me this fight isn’t new – it’s a generational struggle,” says Wilson. “I’ve got no choice. I have to carry the torch for them, too.”
Wilson added, “There are so many talented women who can write the hell out of a song” and “From Megan Moroney to Ella Langley, they’re having a moment, and I hope it keeps growing. But it’s still a challenge – I’m still navigating it myself.” Even though Wilson herself is still trying to find her footing as a female in the music industry, per her comments, she still has the ability to touch and provide for the younger female musicians currently in the world.
Even though Lainey Wilson’s ambition will surely transfer into 2025, it seems it will also be directed into a different social direction. Frankly, we might never see the results of Wilson’s action, but as long as she’s still kicking, she’ll be helping the women who she shares Nashville’s biggest stages with.
