Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day allegedly has beef with Las Vegas after he called the city a “s–thole” during a show in San Francisco. He was commenting on the fact that his favorite baseball team, the Oakland Athletics, is moving to Las Vegas, and threw some strong words around about Sin City.

“We don’t take s–t from people like f—ing John Fisher [Oakland A’s owner],” said Armstrong, clearly miffed by the change according to a report from Music News. “I hate Las Vegas. It’s the worst s–thole in America.”
In response, Las Vegas radio station KOMP 92.3 posted on Instagram that they’re pulling all of Green Day’s music from the air. The station posted a photo of the band with a red canceled symbol over their faces. “KOMP 92.3 has pulled any and all Green Day from our playlist. It’s not us, Billie…it’s you,” they wrote in the caption, along with the hashtag “Vegas4Ever.”
Las Vegas Green Day fans took to the comments of KOMP’s post to share their thoughts about the move, which were much less than polite.
“Green Day doesn’t care that about 500 people won’t hear their music in their Ubers,” one person wrote. Another commented, “Good thing some of us have streaming services & Green Day CDs.” Others called out KOMP for being “whiny” and “butt-hurt” over Armstrong’s comments.

Green Day Has Never Shied Away from Sharing Opinions, But Las Vegas Radio Thinks They’ve Gone Too Far
Similarly, the Las Vegas station X107.5 shared they would not be playing Green Day either. Midday host Carlota announced that the station was completely “breaking up” with the band, scrubbing their playlists of their songs.
“Maybe he [Armstrong] should take a look at the city and the people involved in that transaction than talking SMACK about the city of Las Vegas,” said the host during the announcement, according to a report from X107.5.
The station urged Green Day to think about the Las Vegas community beyond the Strip, writing, “This city isn’t for everyone. It can quite literally eat people up. But for the true Las Vegans and local transplants who have absorbed and loved Vegas, don’t talk smack about our city.”
