“Last year was the most incredible thing that any of us have ever done. It was amazing,” Gallagher said of himself and his bandmates. “To come back after all these years, and then get No. 1 albums and all that is pretty mad, but we loved every minute and every second of it.”
“The gigs were amazing, particularly the ones in Manchester,” he continued of his hometown. “I’m kind of lost for words for it, really. The gigs spoke for themselves… They were all 10 out of 10. I know everybody says that, but they were truly astonishing.”
The tour’s 41 shows were so good, in fact, that Gallagher admitted it was “overwhelming in places.”
“To see the love for the band after all these years is amazing,” he said. “… That’s as good as it gets. It was better than the ’90s.”
Gallagher’s kids—Anaïs, 25, Donovan, 17, and Sonny, 14—got to experience the tour alongside him, which made it all the more special.
“They’d never seen Oasis before, and now they’ve seen it 38 times.,” he said, before quipping that the experience “reminded them how lucky they are to be my children.”
The tour wrapped in November after the band spent five months on the road. After Oasis played the final show, the band reflected on the trek on Instagram.
“‘The most damaging pop cultural force in recent British history’ found its way into the hearts and minds of a new generation,” the band wrote. “From Gallagher Hill to the River Plate, from Croke Park on the banks of the Royal Canal to the City Of Angels, the love, joy, tears and euphoria will never be forgotten.”
Noel Gallagher Discusses the Upcoming Oasis Documentary
Now Gallagher has turned his focus to the upcoming Oasis documentary, which will cover the long-awaited tour.
“I’ve only seen a tiny little bit of it. It’s difficult to have an opinion on it ’cause I don’t know what I’m looking it,” he said. “I’m only looking at little snippets. But everyone who has seen it—or has seen more of it than I have—have said it’s amazing.”
“If it even captures five percent of what that tour was it will be astonishing,” Gallagher added. “I’m looking forward to it.”
