The Official Pete Wentz Reverb Shop along with his autographed Artist Series StingRay bass, were unveiled today (October 23). The bass is included in a bundle with a MONO Stealth case, and there are 50 of the limited edition bundles available exclusively on Reverb.

Wentz has been using his custom StingRay bass from Sterling by Music Man all throughout Fall Out Boy’s So Much For (Tour) Dust Tour, which kicked off in June. The guitar comes in two colorways: a smart black finish, and a fiery Fiesta Red finish. While the basses on Reverb don’t come with a flame thrower, they’re still hot enough to melt some faces.

“The [StingRay Bass has the] best tone that we’ve had from a live show to date,” said Wentz in a statement. “At the end of the day, I think that punk rock and punk rock music should be accessible. I think it’s very cool to be somebody’s potential first bass.”

Wentz’s StingRay is Sterling by Music Man’s debut passive bass guitar, which means it has simpler mechanics and fewer pickups than an active bass. While passive basses generally don’t have as much power as their active counterparts, they are perfect for the rounded, earthy sound generally found in rock, blues, and jazz. With a passive bass, according to the online equipment platform Sweetwater, there’s nothing but the sound: no compression to fight through and no extra electronics to worry about, which means fewer issues and more music.

The StingRay is powered by an Alnico V Humbucker for a rich, vintage sound, has dual controls, and features custom cosmetic details that emulate Wentz’s unique, distinctive style. Wentz closely developed and tailored the bass to his exact specifications in collaboration with Sterling by Music Man, so fans and musicians know they’re getting the best that Wentz and Music Man have to offer.

“For me, a bass has to stand up and be able to play a lot of different songs,” said Wentz in praise of the StingRay’s strength and versatility. “On this tour, we’re doing more than 20 songs. These basses come backstage, they go out – I play at front of house or I go out and play near the lawn, and they’ve held up for all that. I treat them well, but I also am who I am on stage and they’ve held up under those circumstances.”

The custom StingRay is now available for pre-order at participating retailers for $649.99 MAP, while the signed bundle is available exclusively on Reverb. Check out the new guitars below.
