PREMIERE: Roman Alexander Sets The Mood With “One Tequila”

With Cinco De Mayo approaching, if you’re anything like us, that only means one thing: a whole lot of tequila. It seems Roman Alexander had the same idea and is getting ready to release just the song for the occasion.

Alexander has been making a name for himself around Nashville with his countryfied bangers and opening slots with the likes of Sam Hunt, Old Dominion, Billy Currington, and more.

His latest release, “One Tequila,” is a certified crooner that somehow finds the middle ground between a sexy slow jam and a party starter. His voice goes down smooth as he sings, One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, clothes on the floor / You’ll have your hands all over me before we make it through that bedroom door.

Though Alexander is a songwriter in his own right, he picked up this song from Adam Sanders, Lynn Hutton, and Jacob Rice.

“The song was pitched to me by my A&R team when we were putting together my upcoming EP,” Alexander tells American Songwriter. “It instantly caught my attention and it was the exact sound, tempo, and feel I had been lacking in previous releases and projects— and Tequila makes everything a little more exciting.”

Alexander is sharing the song just in time for Cinco De Mayo celebrations, which he hopes will jump-start its life as fuel for a good time.

“I want fans to be able to sing every word at one of my shows as well as feel like having a good time whether it’s at a bar or in their car,” Alexander says. “And maybe encourage a few extra tequila drinks with their friends if they’re out!”

And if you’re wondering which tequila Alexander is throwing back to help set the mood, he goes for “Patron or Don Julio…but if I’m in a pinch and the bar doesn’t have either—house tequila tends to do the job!”
