“She Didn’t Want To Cancel Any Shows”: Why Kelly Clarkson Postponed the First Shows of Her Las Vegas Residency

“She didn’t want to cancel any shows,” the source told the outlet. However, the source claimed, Clarkson had to just that in order to protect her vocal cords.

The source claimed that Clarkson’s vocal issues “came on quickly” after “long rehearsing sessions,” thus explaining the last-minute postponements.

“Even as a seasoned singer, she pushes herself too hard. Vegas is very dry too and it seemed this was an issue as well for the vocal health,” the source said. “She was pretty much forced to [postpone in order to] prevent long-term damage.”

As for how she’s feeling in the wake of the postponements, the source said that Clarkson “was devastated.” She also “felt terrible for fans that had traveled to see her,” the source said.

“She’s been very excited about the Las Vegas residency and connecting with her fans,” the source said, before adding that Clarkson is “ready to kick things off this weekend.”

Kelly Clarkson Announces the Postponement

In her initial social media post announcing the news, Clarkson said she’d been “working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans.”

“The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice,” she wrote. “I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”

As for what fans can expect when the show does come to fruition, Clarkson teased “truly incredible” things ahead.

“The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong,” she wrote. “I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
