Sting is back with his first new music since The Bridge from 2021. The new single, “I Wrote Your Name (Upon My Heart)” aired this morning, September 5, on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show. Sting also posted about it on his social media, announcing the drop.

The song allegedly pays homage to Bo Diddley’s 1955 single “Bo Diddley Beat.” It has a similar blues beat and includes Sting on vocals, bass, and guitar. The song also features Dominic Miller on guitar, Chris Maas on drums, and Martin Kierszenbaum playing organ.
Miller and Maas are part of Sting’s new trio, called Sting 3.0, and the three will headline BBC Radio 2’s In The Park concert in the U.K. on September 7. Formerly, Maas was the touring drummer for Mumford and Sons. Miller is, of course, a longtime Sting collaborator, recording and touring with him since 1990.
September 17 and 18 in Detroit marks the start of Sting 3.0’s tour. The trio will play multiple shows across a host of cities, including five nights in Toronto, two in Philadelphia and Boston, three in Brooklyn, and four in Chicago and Los Angeles. The tour concludes in L.A. on November 16. However, Sting 3.0 will head to Austria on December for The Grand Festival, which marks the start of the skiing season.
