‘The Voice’ Competition Heats up as Coaches John Legend, Michael Bublé (Literally) Race to the Finish Line

The Voice season 27 is underway. With standouts like Lucia Flores-Wiseman and Conor James, the competition is as fierce as ever. And apparently, it’s not only the artists who are feeling the heat. Coaches Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, John Legend, and Adam Levine are in it to win it, too.

Watch John Legend Race Michael Bublé In New ‘The Voice’ Promo

When it comes to pure, raw vocal talent, it doesn’t get much better than Michael Bublé and John Legend. Bublé, 49, revived jazz-pop with his smooth, warm baritone. And Legend, 46, is a modern-day king of soul.

Bublé returns to The Voice on the hunt for his second straight win, after taking home the season 26 title with winner Sofronio Vasquez. Legend is also chasing Win No. 2. Ironically, both emerged victorious in their debut seasons.

However, each coach must get through the other before they hoist that trophy above their head. Their paths crossed in a new season 27 promo for The Voice as both musicians attempted to get a head start on their competition.

“I like to be the first one on set,” Legend says after bumping into Bublé on the way to the stage.

“Yeab, me too,” the “Feeling Good” crooner replies—and then the race is on. Breaking out into a dead sprint, the two veteran coaches topple an unsuspecting crew member in their haste to beat out the other. As both cross the “finish line” at the same time, they turn to each other and exclaim in unison, “I won!”

Watch This Toddler Choose Her Dad’s Coach In Sweet Father-Daughter Moment

So far, The Voice contestants have a decent track record when allowing their children to pick Mom or Dad’s coach for them. After all, Huntley placed his fate in the hands of his then 6-year-old daughter, who chose Niall Horan in what would become a season-winning combo.

Now, Robert Hunter is hoping to continue that streak. The 33-year-old sheriff’s deputy from Garner, North Carolina, turned two chairs with his Blind Audition performance of Cody Johnson’s “‘Til You Can’t.”

Faced with a choice between Kelsea Ballerini and Michael Bublé, Garner enlisted the help of his daughter,  Mary Blake. “Who’s your favorite singer?” Garner asked the little girl.

Unfortunately for Bublé, her answer was, “Kelsea Ballerini.”
