‘The Voice’ Contestant Tatum Scott Wows Kelsea Ballerini With Epic Cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire”

It looks like Kelsea Ballerini may be adding another Nashville girl to her team on The Voice. In a sneak peek clip of the ongoing blind auditions, 22-year-old Nashvillian Tatum Scott took the stage to perform Olivia Rodrigo’s hit song, “Vampire.”

Scott’s soulful rendition of the pop tune was masterful to say the least. John Legend took notice, turning his chair around first. Ballerini followed soon after.

When Scott concluded the track she immediately fan girled over Ballerini, leading Legend to groan. Ballerini realized she has an opening and left her chair to chat with the hopeful face-to-face.

“I live in Nashville. I have those pants!” Ballerini told Scott, who excitedly acknowledges, “I know you have these pants! I saw! I saw your concert.”

“There is no one who knows what it is like to be a woman in Nashville except for a woman in Nashville,” Ballerini said. “We can do it together. We can match!”

In response, Legend told fellow coaches Adam Levine and Michael Bublé, “We should just do a separate show.”

However, Legend wasn’t going to go down without a fight.

“I turned for you first. Kelsea was a little late,” Legend said, prompting gasps from the coaches. “… I pushed a button. I felt like I had a decent shot. And then you guys started talking. I felt this bond that we may have had dissolving.”

“Kelsea has never done this show before,” he continued. “This is just a fact. This is not criticism. This is just a factual statement I made.”

Legend didn’t stop there, telling Scott, “I have so much experience helping young artists navigate their way through this show. With Kelsea, she may. We don’t know.”

As Ballerini mimed getting stabbed in the heart, she told Scott, “I have so much fire under my but to kill it for you and I will. I have a lot to prove!”

Legend continued to shoot his shot, though, as he insisted, “I listen to Olivia Rodrigo in the car with my daughters. I’m very young and hip. I know what’s happening.”

Will Legend’s pleas sway Scott away from Ballerini? Fans will have to wait until The Voice airs on NBC Monday, Feb. 10 at 8/7c to find out.
