Watch Clay Walker Join Forces With Randy Travis for Special Performance of “Forever and Ever, Amen” at Grand Ole Opry

Having such an impact on country music over the decades, it only made sense to make a film about the rich legacy of Randy Travis. With a long list of hit songs like “Deeper Than the Holler” and “On the Other Hand”, the singer went on to win several Grammy Awards and gained entry into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Sadly, in 2013, Travis suffered a stroke, leaving him with limited speech. While continuing to focus on his recovery, Travis made his way to the stage at the Grand Ole Opry to perform “Forever and Ever, Amen” alongside singer Clay Walker, who would portray him in the new film by the same name.

Randy Travis Heading To Hollywood In New Biopic

As for the upcoming biopic, the film will be helmed by Andrew Hyatt, who directed films like The Blind and Sight. With both Travis and his wife, Mary Tavis, loving the script for the film, Mary said, “This is what we prayed for — for somebody who would tell Randy’s life story just as he lived it.”

Although knowing the stardom that followed Travis over the years, Mary promised a new look into the unknown parts of his life. “He had bumps and bruises and rough spots. But Randy never, ever ran from those, and he never denied them. He accepted them. He learned from them.” She added, “He moved on, and he used them as an inspiration for others.”

Besides offering his own take on the film, Walker claimed fans were “going to find out the deep struggles that he had. I look at Randy’s life, and I see redemption. This is a man who’s overcome all those challenges. He’s survived it all.”

While still in the production stage, fans are already preparing to see Walker portray one of the biggest names in country music. No pressure.
