Millennials and Gen-Xers likely remember John Stamos from his role in the hit sitcom Full House. The show saw him playing the ultra-cool rocker Uncle Jesse. Those who stopped following his career after the show ended may not know that Stamos is more than an actor. He’s also a musician. More specifically, he’s a drummer.

Stamos recently appeared on the Drumeo YouTube channel. The channel for percussion enthusiasts hosts a series of videos in which drummers hear a song for the first time with the drum track removed and try to play along with it. The series has produced some epic videos in the past, and this one is no different. Watch Uncle Jesse rock out to Papa Roach’s signature hit “Last Resort” below.

Stamos was nervous in the beginning, but he didn’t let that stop him from stepping out of his wheelhouse to jam along with the hit. After a few takes, he found his groove and was playing like a full-on rock star. He went from being scared to dig into the song to liking some of his playing better than the original recording.
John Stamos Is an Accomplished Drummer
The conversations in the video reveal that John Stamos has played drums with some iconic musicians and bands. He sat in with B.B. King, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Jones, and more. However, his longest engagment is playing drums for the Beach Boys. He has been sitting in with the band off and on since the 1980s.
Last year, Stamos talked about playing with the Beach Boys during a performance. “Next to my son and my wife, it’s the thrill of my life. I’m so thankful for Mike and Bruce, and the guys. Just to be a little part of the conduit that puts this great music out into the world–I’m very thankful,” he said of performing with the band. “The music they wrote was made for this moment right now. It’s almost more powerful now than when they wrote it.”
