ESPN Commentator Pokes Fun at Morgan Wallen Arrest as His Tennessee Vols Lose Big

Morgan Wallen has spent 2024 both as the butt of jokes regarding his April arrest and riding the high of his first-ever CMA Entertainer of the Year win. This mostly means that, no matter where you go, somebody is talking about Morgan Wallen.

Hailing from East Tennessee, the “Whiskey Glasses” singer has long been an avid supporter of the University of Tennessee Volunteers sports teams. So that means Saturday (Dec. 21) was a bad day for Wallen, as the Ohio State Buckeyes bounced the Vols from the College Football Playoffs in a 42-17 rout. And one ESPN commentator just couldn’t resist one more joke at the country star’s expense.

“I Would Hate To Be a Chair in Front of Morgan Wallen Right Now”

The Tennessee Volunteers’ 2024 football season came to a decisive end Saturday (Dec. 21) at the Buckeyes’ Ohio Stadium in Columbus. They finish the season 10-3.

There were very few bright spots for the Tennessee orange during the first round of the College Football Playoffs. And commentator Boston Connor (real name: Connor Campbell), of The Pat McAfee Show, decided to rub salt in one well-known Vol fan’s wound.

“It is doom and gloom,” Connor said. “Would hate to be a Tennessee fan or a chair near Morgan Wallen, because they have no hope right now.”

Wow. The brutal joke was seemingly a hit on social media, however. “*a chair 8 stories below Morgan Wallen right now,” one X/Twitter user wrote.

The Court Saga Is Over

Last Thursday (Dec. 12) Morgan Wallen’s months-long saga came to an end when the “Cowgirls” singer appeared in court to answer for his alleged actions on April 7.

The “Last Night” singer pleaded “conditionally guilty” to two misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment. Initially, he faced three Class E felony counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and one count of disorderly conduct, a Class C misdemeanor.

The charges stemmed from Wallen’s April 7 arrest for allegedly throwing a chair from the roof of Eric Church’s six-story bar, Chief’s. Witnesses said the chair narrowly missed two police officers patrolling Broadway Street below.

Wallen must spend seven days in a DUI education center, and two years on supervised probation. The country star’s lawyer said the case “will not result in a conviction” as long as his client abides by all provisions of the agreement.
