‘Yellowstone’ Star Luke Grimes Is “All Apologies” With Nirvana Cover at the Ryman Auditorium

While growing up in Dayton, Ohio, Luke Grimes eventually traveled to New York City to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Throughout the years, the actor and singer appeared in films like American Sniper and the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise. But for most, they know him from the hit series Yellowstone. Portraying Kayce Dutton, the actor watched his stardom explode as each new episode released. But outside of his time on set, Grimes explored a career in music. And in 2024, he released his self-titled debut album. Expanding her career to include music, the singer recently performed “All Apologies” by Nirvana.

Traveling to Nashville, Tennessee, Grimes took the stage at the historic Ryman Auditorium for a special performance. With fans filling the venue, the actor decided to pay tribute to Nirvana during a portion of his set. Written by vocalist Kurt Cobain, the song appeared on the final album In Utero in 1993. Sadly, Cobain took his own life just a year later in April 1994.

Online, fans loved watching Grimes take his career in different direction as comments read, “Wish I could of been there. That would of been even better.” Another fan added, “Awesome that you were able to record this most excellent cover. 71-year-old great grandma here.”

With Grimes gaining praise from fans both young and old, the singer also opened up about the drastic shift from acting to performing. Traveling the country, the singer revealed the stress that comes with touring.

Luke Grimes Goes From ‘Yellowstone’ To Touring

Speaking with Men’s Health, Grimes discussed life on the road, “The touring thing is new. I’m still working it out. It’s hard to eat right when you’re on a bus, and you’re hitting cities you’ve never been to, and you’re only there for a few hours before you have to get back on the bus. It’s a totally new process I’m still learning.“

With Grimes focusing on exercise and eating healthy, the rising star admitted that the gym offered him mental clarity. “Gyms, for me, are more about the mental aspect of it than making sure I look good with my shirt off or whatever. I mean, of course, I’d like to look good with my shirt off, but we all would. If I go a couple weeks without working out, I start to get real dark. So I have to—I just have to. I’m 40 years old now, so I know I have to get it done.”

While Yellowstone came to a dramatic end recently, Grimes isn’t ready to stop sharing his love for performing just yet.
