Jethro Tull is enjoying a prolific period in its 50-plus-year history, as the veteran British band has unveiled plans to release its third studio album in just over three years. Curious Ruminant, Tull’s 24th studio effort, will be released March 7, and follows The Zealot Gene (2022) and RökFlöte (2023).

The nine-track collection features eight songs that run between two-and-a-half and six minutes, and the 16-minute-plus epic “Drink from the Same Well.”

Frontman Ian Anderson recorded Curious Ruminant with Jethro Tull’s current lineup, with additional contributions from two former members of the band. Anderson sang lead and played flute, guitar, and mandolin on the album, as well as “odds and sods” and “bits and bobs,” according to a press release.
Jethro Tull currently features bassist David Goodier and keyboardist/accordion player John O’Hara, who both joined the group in 2007; and drummer Scott Hammond, who began playing with the band in 2017. The album also marks the first Jethro Tull album for electric guitarist Jack Clark, who joined the band in 2024.
The ex-Jethro Tull members featured on Curious Ruminant are keyboardist Andrew Giddings and Anderson’s son, drummer James Duncan. Giddings played with the band from 1991 until 2007, and James Duncan’s stint with the group lasted from 2007 to 2009.
Jethro Tull’s Has Released an Advance Track, Companion Music Video
Coinciding with the album announcement, Jethro Tull has released its title song as an advance track via digital formats. The song features enigmatic lyrics, as well as the band’s signature mix of hard-rock, prog-rock and British folk-rock influences.
In addition, an animated music video for “Curious Ruminant” has premiered on Jethro Tull’s official YouTube channel. The clip boasts an amalgam of surreal, abstract images that echo the ominous and convoluted nature of the lyrics.
More Release Details About Curious Ruminant
Curious Ruminant will be available in multiple formats and configurations, including as a CD Digipak, as a 180-gram vinyl LP in a gatefold sleeve, and digitally.
The album also will be released in two limited-edition deluxe versions, including a two-LP/two-CD/Blu-ray Artbook package. This collection features LPs pressed on 180-gram, ultra-clear-colored vinyl, a Blu-ray containing Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround Sound mixes and new interviews, and two exclusive art prints. The other deluxe release features the two CDs and the Blu-ray.

Jethro Tull’s 2025 Tour Plans
Jetro Tull currently has about two dozen confirmed concerts in Europe on its 2025 itinerary. The show span from a February 17 performance in Milan, Italy, through a November 9 concert in Berlin, Germany.
