The Fab Four are one of 15 artists nominated in the Song of the Year category, for “Now and Then.” “Now and Then,” which was released in November 2023, was created using a demo recorded by the late John Lennon around 1977, with new parts added by the surviving Beatles in 1995 and the 2020s.
Among the other tunes nominated for the Song of the Year honor are “Guess” by Charli XCX and Billie Eilish, “feelslikeimfallinginlove” by Coldplay, and “Training Season” by Dua Lipa. The BRITs are the U.K.’s equivalent to the Grammy Awards. This year’s ceremony will take place on March 1 at The O2 arena in London.
About The Beatles’ Previous BRIT Nominations and Awards
The Beatles’ BRIT nomination is the first that the band has received since 1977, which was before most if not all of their fellow nominees were born. 1977 was the first year that the BRIT Awards were held.
The Beatles received three nods that year, for British Pop Group, British Pop Album (for Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band), and British Pop Single (for “She Loves You”). The Fab Four won the first two of those three awards. Also at the 1977 ceremony, The Beatles were presented with a special award for Outstanding Contributions to the Recording Industry.
