“Violently Sick” Parker McCollum Issues Apology to Fans After Ending Concert Early

Although only spending a little over a decade in country music, Parker McCollum spent the majority of his life listening to classic singers of the genre. Going back to his childhood in Conroe, Texas, the singer grew up with stars like Willie Nelson, Buck Owens, and even Porter Wagoner. And when it came to songwriting, he also listened to Bob Dylan. Turning that passion for music into a career, McCollum released four studio albums, with his last, Never Enough, hitting shelves in May 2023. While working on new music, the singer recently ended a show early after he became too sick to perform.

Wanting to celebrate his What Kinda Man tour, McCollum traveled to State College, Pennsylvania to entertain fans with hits like “Pretty Heart” and “Hell of a Year.” With fans screaming when he appeared on stage, the singer tried his best to get through the concert. But the sickness eventually took over as she told the crowd, “Penn State I apologize sincerely, I’m going to call the show. I’ll give each and every single one of y’all your money back. It is from the deepest part of my heart that I apologize for having to do this. I’ve never done this in all the years I’ve been singing country music. I apologize sincerely. I hope you guys will forgive us.”

Knowing how much fans wanted him to perform, McCollum promised to make it up to them. And besides wanting to return for another concert, he insisted, “We will come back and make it up. I will give every penny you spent tonight back to you. Thank you so much.”

Parker McCollum Shares What Happened At Concert

While addressing the fans at his concert, McCollum also shared his apologies across social media. On Twitter, he wrote, “State College, PA…I am sorry about tonight…was getting pretty sick before the show and tried to make it through. Sadly, I couldn’t make it happen. Definitely not how we wanted the show to go, but we are going to make it up to you very soon. Details will be coming soon.”

With McCollum still trying to work out the details about making up the concert, he shared a video on Instagram that explained the reason he needed to cancel the show. “Just wanted to give y’all kind of a quick update as to what happened Saturday night in Pennsylvania at Penn State. Long story short, I was in the meet and greet before the show, I had about two people left and all of a sudden just out of nowhere, bam, I felt in my stomach. I said man, I’m about to be very very sick. I knew that something was pretty wrong.”

Finding any moment to apologize, McCollum ended his video, once again stating, “So again, I appreciate you guys understanding, you have my word we are working on a date sometime this year to come back and make that show up to you guys. I really appreciate the support and everybody reaching out and checking on me. I’m getting a lot better, not 100% yet, wish I was. Certainly, I think, by tomorrow I’ll probably be back on top of my game.”
