5 Addictive One-Hit Wonders From the 1990s You Still Sing in the Shower

If you’ve been belting out these one-hit wonders from the 1990s in your shower for the last couple of decades, we definitely won’t judge you. Despite being solitary hits, these songs are absolute bops that have aged pretty well, we’d say. Let’s take a look!

Videos by American Songwriter

1. “Walking In Memphis” by Marc Cohn

Few one-hit wonders are as timeless as “Walking In Memphis” by Marc Cohn. Released in 1991, this soft rock hit made it to no. 13 on the US Hot 100 chart, among others. Unfortunately for Marc Cohn, he never had another Top 20 hit in the US again.

2. “Two Princes” by Spin Doctors

Alt-rock one-hit wonders were a dime a dozen in the 1990s, but the 1992 song “Two Princes” by Spin Doctors is still unforgettable. This pop-rock track catapulted to the top of the charts, hitting no. 7 on the Hot 100 that year.

It’s wild to think that the band never had another Top 10 hit in the US again, though they continued to chart decently with subsequent singles through the mid-1990s.

3. “All For You” by Sister Hazel

This Sister Dazel track from 1997 was a big deal for anyone who grew up in the American South. “All For You” is a stellar little jangle-rock tune that charted well on a wealth of American charts (and, oddly enough, the Icelandic charts) and made it to no. 11 on the Hot 100.

Their 1998 song “Happy” charted decently, but Sister Hazel never had another Top 20 hit on the Hot 100 again.

4. “Sunny Came Home” by Shawn Colvin

Remember this 1996 hit from Shawn Colvin? You probably remember the chorus, at the very least. The folk-rock hit “Sunny Came Home” was a big deal across multiple charts, and it made it all the way to no. 7 on the Hot 100.

Sadly, Colvin struggled to capitalize on that hit, and her subsequent singles failed to chart on the Hot 100 at all. At least she scored a Grammy for “Sunny Came Home”.

5. “Send Me On My Way” by Rusted Root

Worldbeat rock band Rusted Root deserves their flowers more than most one-hit wonders of the 1990s. “Send Me On My Way” was the song of 1994. You might just remember it from Matilda

The track made it to no. 72 on the Hot 100, but it was much bigger in the realm of pop culture than what the charts showed. It was the only song by Rusted Root to really chart throughout the 1990s.
