An icon when it comes to blues rock, the musician was recently rushed to the hospital after suffering a medical emergency on stage.

On Tuesday, Santana walked on stage in Texas for a routine soundcheck. While not out of the ordinary, apparently, the musician struggled on stage when trying to prepare for the upcoming concert. According to reports, he even needed to be taken out on a gurney. With fans concerned over his health, Santana’s manager Michael Vrionis revealed in a statement, “Mr. Santana was at the [Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Tex.] preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration.”
With Santana treated at the nearby hospital for dehydration, Vrinois added, “Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his US Tour. Thank you all very much for your understanding. The show will be rescheduled soon.”

Not The First Time Carlos Santana Struggled On Stage
Outside of having to reschedule the concert, Santana already had other performances lined up. He was expected to take the stage on Wednesday in Sugarland, Texas. And with the year just starting, the musician had another 50 shows planned before ending the year.
While not wanting to slow down, Santana struggled with a few health issues over the years. Back in 2021, he underwent a heart surgery. And just a year later, he collapsed on stage while performing in Detroit. At the time, those close to the guitarist noted how he suffered from heat exhaustion. Santana also delayed his recent Las Vegas residency after falling at his home in Hawaii.
At the time, Vrionis shared how Santana needed pins placed in his finger after falling. “He had to have pins inserted in the finger. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to play guitar for approximately six weeks. Doctors do say that he will recuperate fully.” He continued, “Carlos is doing well and is anxious to be back on stage soon. He just needs to heal. Santana profoundly regrets these postponements of his upcoming performances, but accidents happen, and his health is our number one concern. He is looking forward to seeing all of his fans very soon.”
Although having a few health issues over the months, Santana is sure to make his way back to the stage in no time.
