On July 5th, Birmingham’s Villa Park will become sacred ground for rock and roll as Ozzy Osbourne will take the stage with Black Sabbath for one more performance. Having dealt with numerous health issues over the years, the singer hoped to bring back Black Sabbath for one more performance. While starting as nothing more than a dream, it quickly became a reality as fans clamored to get a tickets. And besides Black Sabbath, the concert celebration will include other acts like Metallica. While a celebration of Osbourne and Black Sabbath, the concert will feature several acts from big names in music like Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Billy Corgan, Guns N’ Roses, Pantera, and more. But for Hale, she noticed that among the massive lineup, she was the only female asked to participate. “To be the only woman asked to be there is an honour.”
When speaking with her friends Taylor Momsen and Amy Lee, Hale noted the support she received. “I was talking to my friends, Taylor Momsen and Amy Lee and [In This Moment’s] Maria Brink and all of my sisters in this genre, and they’re all so proud of me,” she said. “And I said, ‘Hey, girls, I’m carrying you with me. You’re gonna be there in spirit. I’m gonna make you girls so proud.’ And so it’s this beautiful event that everyone gets to look forward to. I’m so glad they’re doing it.”
The Reason Lzzy Hale Almost Missed Final Black Sabbath Concert
Proud to be part of Osbourne’s final moment in the spotlight, Hale almost skipped the event. Never thinking about missing the concert, she admitted that when Sharon Osbourne first reached out – she thought it was fake. “Dude, so we got this e-mail from Sharon Osbourne. And I didn’t answer it for two days. ’cause I’m, like, ‘Is this real?’ It’s wild. I’ve been a Black Sabbath fan since I was 11. The first riff I ever learned a guitar was ‘Heaven And Hell’ by Black Sabbath.”
As for what fans should expect from Hale, she hinted at more than a single set. “Halestorm is doing a set. We’re also doing a Black Sabbath cover. And I’ve been asked to sing in the supergroup with Tom Morello and everybody there.”
