Last week, on April 22, American Songwriter hosted the very first Road Ready Talent Contest Finale at The Basement East in Nashville, Tennessee. The turnout was phenomenal, the vibes were immaculate, and in general, the evening celebrated the three finalists and the indie Nashville music scene as a whole. Thank you to everyone who turned out, voted, and celebrated this historic night in the history of American Songwriter!

Beachmont
Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, indie alternative rock band Beachmont walked away as the first ever winner of the Road Ready Talent Contest Finale. Needless to say, their electrifying performance stunned the crowd and helped them walk away with the $20,000 grand prize.
Road Ready is just the tip of the iceberg for these guys, so expect to hear their names in the near future. For the sake of the event’s title, these guys are certainly “road-ready.”
SmithField
Trey Smith and Jennifer Fielder of SmithField reminded the folks in attendance that they were, in fact, in the capital of country music. The duo sang iconic country covers and performed their successful original single, “We’ll Figure It Out”.
SmithField gave one heck of a performance and left it all out on the stage, but at the end of the night, there could only be one winner. However, their performance surely left the audience members with a tough decision to make.
Joe Jenneman
Joe Jenneman kicked off the night with the first performance of the evening. Jenneman took the crowd to high and low points by controlling the energy with his sentimentally slow songs and up-beat head-bangers. He was the perfect opening act, as he exquisitely warmed up the crowd and foreshadowed what was to come.
Jenneman proved that he was deserving of the Road Ready Talent Contest finalist label. And surely, everyone in attendance agreed. He didn’t come home as the big winner, but regardless, he showed off his versatile musical wheelhouse that will certainly benefit him as he continues his career.
