Don Felder on Joining Eagles at Sphere: “I’m Not Holding My Breath”

Don Felder, former member of the legendary rock band Eagles, recently spoke with Eddie Trunk on Sirius XM about his relationship with the remaining band members. Apparently, they’re all on surprisingly good terms. Just don’t expect Don Felder to make a surprise guest appearance on stage with the band during their Las Vegas residency at Sphere.

Felder noted that if Don Henley called him up and invited him to make an appearance during the residency, he’d “absolutely” accept the offer in a heartbeat. But according to Felder, that probably won’t ever happen.

“I’ll tell you this, I’m not holding my breath,” Felder told Trunk.

When asked about the remaining members of Eagles and whether or not they are on good terms, Felder was frank. He said that he has had “no conversations with them about any of that” in terms of the drama that led to Felder leaving the band.

He was a bit vague about the whole thing. However, it seems to be pretty simple. Don Felder and Eagles are on cordial terms, but they aren’t the best of friends. At least, not enough to for Eagles to invite Felder to perform during their current residency at The Sphere in Las Vegas.

Don Felder’s Legacy With Eagles Is a Complicated One

Don Felder was a big part of Eagles from 1974 to 2001. He was part of the band during their golden era. Felder also contributed to many of their biggest commercial smash hits. He was also part of the band during their 14-year hiatus from the 80s through the mid-90s.

Sadly, it’s not exactly uncommon for interpersonal drama to get in the way when it comes to enormously successful rock bands. Felder and other members of the band were constantly fighting over pay and contract breaches, which led to his departure from the outfit. Luckily, though, Felder has affirmed that it’s all water under the bridge in 2025.

“There are times here and there along the way that we bump into each other, and we’re very cordial about it,” said Felder. “I really kind of buried all the hatchets in 2000.”

Felder is set to tour this summer with Styx and Kevin Cronin. His newest album, The Vault – 50 Years Of Music, is set for release on May 23.
