Since forming in 1975 thanks to songwriter Steve Harris, Iron Maiden released over 40 studio albums, sold more than 130 albums, and performed 2,500 live shows. Often considered one of the most important bands in heavy metal, Iron Maiden helped propel the genre into the spotlight thanks to songs like “Fear of the Dark” and “Wasted Years.” Marking the 50th anniversary, the band decided to kick off their Run For Your Lives World Tour just a few days ago. And wanting to get fans pumped, the group released the setlist and even a recap video of their first concert.

On May 27th, Iron Maiden took the stage in Budapest, Hungary for their first stop in the Run For Your Live World Tour. And since the tour revolved around the band’s long history in music, the group promised a stellar lineup of songs. Many of the songs performed during the concert hadn’t been performed live in several years. Posting a video on TikTok, the setlist included, “The Ides Of March”, “Murders in the Rue Morgue”, “Wrathchild”, “Killers”, “Phantom of the Opera”, “and “The Number of the Beast.”

Simon Dawson’s First Live Performance With Iron Maiden
With fans gushing over the setlist, Iron Maiden ended the concert with an encore performance of “Aces High”, “Fear of The Dark”, and “Wasted Years.”
Outside of the historic moment for Iron Maiden, the night featured the first live performance with the new drummer Simon Dawson. Taking over for Nicko McBrain, fans expressed their thoughts on the lineup change. “Thank you Simon, with all due respect to Nicko. I’m crying while listening Maiden’s opening at Hungary. So much waiting for live experience in Hellsinki.” Another comment read, “Why aren’t more people talking about how Simon absolutely fkn CRUSHED his debut show with Maiden! Well done Simon!!”
Just the first stop, Iron Maiden will take their tour all over the world with concerts scheduled until 2026.
