The “Bonehead” Behind Oasis’ Long-Awaited Reunion: “If It Wasn’t for Him, None of This Would Have Happened”

Back in August 2009, Oasis took the stage for what would be the final time after performing at the V Festival. Although scheduling other performances throughout the year, the brothers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, found themselves at odds. And for the last 16 years, the tension remained. That was until the band walked out on stage over the weekend. With 70,000 fans in attendance, the wait was finally over. The group behind hits like “Wonderwall” and “Supersonic” had joined forces once again. And with fans thrilled about what the future held for Oasis, it seemed they all had guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs to thank.

Although the drama surrounding the Gallagher brothers played out in headlines over the years, they remained somewhat absent from the public spotlight. Not wanting to fuel the flames even more, the brothers seemed content with what they created before calling it quits and the lawsuits. But Noel offered those in attendance at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium some insight into what led Oasis to get back together. 

While fans discussed the brothers’ motivations to get the band back together, Noel turned to founding member Arthurs, giving him credit. When speaking to the crowd, Noel insisted, “On guitar, if it wasn’t for him, none of this would have happened.”

Oasis Discusses Dynamic Ticket Pricing During Reunion

In usual Oasis fashion, there were absolutely no interviews ahead of the performance. Giving reporters no chance to ask questions about what exactly led them to get the band back together, most only had what Noel said during the concert. And for those wanting more details about the relationship between Liam and Noel, they waited nearly 17 years just for an explanation that was only a few words.  

Although not wanting to discuss their personal lives, the brothers did have a little fun when criticizing Ticketmaster’s dynamic ticket pricing system. Claiming they had no idea the dynamic pricing would be used, Noel told fans, “I hope it was worth £175 of anybody’s money. Sorry, £210. Sorry, £250.” 

Liam also chimed in, adding, “What’s happening? You alright? Yeah, you’re having a good time, yeah? Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for a ticket?”

But no matter the price of a ticket or the reasoning behind their reuniting, fans were ecstatic to see their favorite band together once again.
