AI Creates the “Perfect” Classic Rock Band Using Icons of the Genre

In every band, there is usually one or two members that stand out. In Led Zeppelin, it’s hard to ignore the piercing wail of Robert Plant. In the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards’ guitar lines reign supreme. What would happen if you put each of these standout musicians into one supergroup?

We tasked Chat GPT with creating the “perfect” classic rock band using icons of the genre. Try to imagine Freddie Mercury and Jimi Hendrix in the same band…could the world handle a rock ‘n’ roll miracle like that?

Lead Vocals: Freddie Mercury

The technology had many stellar vocalists to choose from for their frontman pick. In the end, it went with the operatic pipes of Freddie Mercury. Chat GPT explained their decision by talking about Mercury’s “incredible vocal range” and “unparalleled charisma.”

Mercury certainly brought something special to Queen during his tenure, so we have no complaints about choosing Mercury as the lead vocalist for our hypothetical supergroup.

Lead Guitar: Jimi Hendrix

As far as lead guitarists go, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone more adept than Jimi Hendrix. His guitar solos are recited by fans like a catchy chorus would be. His riffs are like lyrics that you can’t seem to get out of your head.

Though his prowess on the guitar has the potential to overpower the other members of the group, if we’re striving for perfection, Hendrix is one of the only choices.

Rhythm Guitar: Keith Richards

While Hendrix is at the front of the stage making a statement with his solos, AI wants Keith Richards to be in the back holding down the fort on rhythm guitar. The technology cites Richards’ “bluesy” style as the onus behind their decision.

Richards flips back and forth between rhythm and lead guitar in the Stones, so there is no doubt he would fill this role superbly.

Bass Guitar: John Paul Jones

Chat GPT wants Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones to add his melodic bass lines to our supergroup. Largely considered one of the best bassists of all time, its decision to choose Jones doesn’t surprise us one bit.

The technology believes that Jones’ bass tone will “add depth to the overall sound.”

Drums: Keith Moon

Rounding out the rhythm section is The Who’s Keith Moon. Chat GPT chose Moon for his “explosive and energetic drumming style.” There are a lot of stellar cooks starting to pile up in this kitchen, but because of Moon’s prestige, we will put our fears of the band becoming too overwhelming aside.

Moon’s addition to the band means we can rest assured that our band will have incredible energy.

Keyboard/Piano: Christine McVie

Christine McVie lent her magic to Fleetwood Mac for decades. Her contributions earned the band some of their most radio-friendly, yet deeply emotive hits. Her addition to the band is something Chat GPT believes would add a rich and enchanting layer to the band – and we couldn’t agree more.

In addition to her skills on the ivories, the technology thinks her lulling background vocals would also be of service to the group.

Saxophone/Flute: Ian Anderson

Though a saxophonist or flutist isn’t a necessary component for a classic rock group in our book, according to Chat GPT, it’s a must and it chose Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson to fill that space.

Anderson’s contributions would help add “richness and diversity” to the group’s music, the technology explained. The “perfect” rock band would have something to help set them apart from their peers and Anderson might be just the ticket.
