Alice in Chains Forced To Cancel Concert After Drummer Sean Kinney Suffered Medical Emergency

On Thursday, Alice in Chains prepared to take the stage at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. With fans excited to see the hit band perform on stage, Alice In Chains ran through the normal preparations for any concert. But during the soundcheck, apparently, drummer Sean Kinney suffered a medical emergency. While the details surrounding what happened during the sound check were unknown, the incident appeared serious enough for the band to go ahead and cancel the concert for the evening.

While fans who purchased tickets to the show were disappointed in the news, others wondered exactly what happened. Again, not giving up many details about what happened, the band did release a statement. “After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.”

Alice In Chains Scheduled For Back To The Beginning Concert

Throughout Kinney’s career, the drummer collaborated with numerous stars, including Johnny Cash and Metallica. He also landed a spot on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers as a guest drummer. And throughout his time with Alice in Chains, he received several Grammy nominations. Although loving the stage, Alice in Chains has been somewhat absent from the spotlight. Their last performance was back in 2024 when they attended the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Trying to get back to the stage, the news of the recent cancellation left some wondering about their upcoming schedule. Alice in Chains already booked a few performances in May. They included concerts on May 11th, 13th, 15th, and the 16th. Jump forward to July and the band was also on the schedule for the Back to the Beginning show that marked the last concert from rock icon Ozzy Osbourne.

With no news about the rest of their 2025 schedule, only time will tell if Alice in Chains will make their way back to the stage for the first time in nearly a year. But for now, fans were able to get their money back from the canceled concert.
