The list of country music artists signing on to play even a small part in Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20 seems to be growing by the minute. From Big & Rich to Toby Keith to Rascal Flatts’ Gary LeVox, many of country music’s finest are putting politics aside in an effort to take a small part in one of the biggest days in our country’s history.
But unfortunately, Clint Black won’t be one of them.

The legendary country singer weighed in on the subject, when a fan came to him with this request. “Clint, you love America! Please ask to sing at Trump’s inauguration! It would be awesome!”
I do love America. I wasn't asked to sing at the inauguration, but I would've considered it. Unity is the cornerstone of civilization. https://t.co/UFlgXqXmHl

Clint quickly replied, telling the fan, “I do love America. I wasn’t asked to sing at the inauguration, but I would’ve considered it. Unity is the cornerstone of civilization.”
Amen, Clint.
Of course, Clint himself has weighed in on the state of politics today, having reissued his song “Calling It News” back in November of 2016.
“[The song] has never seemed more relevant than now,” said Clint in a press release about the “satirical look at how coverage of the presidential race has presented itself.”
He added, “[It] shouldn’t be taken as a political statement, but rather as a way to illustrate how our focus has been steered away from the important issues facing our country today.”
