In an interesting turn of events, it seems that pop princess Ariana Grande is an unlikely fan of Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark herself. Or, perhaps, she was. Grande recently expressed disappointment in comments that Elvira, AKA Cassandra Peterson, made about a years-ago interaction between them. Grande said she was “disheartened” by the comments but shared that Elvira will “always be our queen of Halloween,” referring to herself and her family.

During a Q&A at the Knott’s Scary Farm Halloween event, Elvira was asked about her shadiest celebrity encounter. She recalled an incident with Ariana Grande. Her response went viral on TikTok, sparking Grande to address it.
Elvira recalled that Grande came to one of her shows with 20 people—friends and family—and requested 21 tickets for them and herself. Elvira took photos with all 20 people and as a group, but when she asked if Ariana Grande wanted a photo, Grande refused.
“Then I say to [Ariana Grande], ‘Can we take a photo together?’ and she goes, ‘No, I don’t really do that,’” said Elvira. She also stated that Grande left the show before it started, but her guests remained.
Elvira’s Q&A Comments Spark Ariana Grande to Issue Apology, But Fans Think It’s A Little Backhanded
Ariana Grande responded to Elvira’s story, sharing that she was “disheartened.” She wrote in a comment on Elvira’s social media post, “I’m so disheartened to see this. I actually don’t even remember getting the chance to meet you because i had an anxiety attack and to my memory, left before the rest of my family (this was around 7 years ago and at the time i was really not great with being in public crowds or loud places)… but if i’m misremembering this moment, i sincerely apologize for offending you so.”
Still, she thanked Elvira, but included a comment that rubbed rans the wrong way. “Thank you for being so nice to my mom, she told me how lovely you were (she might have different feelings about that now but i’ll talk to her… clearly, we all have our days!) sending love always … you’ll always be our queen of halloween!”
Fans on either side were discussing the comments. Many felt that Elvira was simply answering a question honestly, which is usually what happens in a Q&A session. Others supported Ariana Grande and questioned Elvira’s post on social media. They claimed “it was a decade ago” and that she was “coming to create female rivalry.” One person commented, “what happened to women supporting women?” Still, more people turned to Grande’s alleged history of being a “mean girl,” as one commenter put it.
