On Friday (June 23), the Canadian rock band dropped their first single in two years. “Lovin’ Life” features an upbeat, summer-friendly melody alongside uplifting lyrics that find light in the darkness of the world. We’re lovin’ life/We love it so much that we wanna live it twice/We’re lovin’ life/We take it high/We take it low/We ride that rollercoaster anywhere it goes/We’re lovin’ life, frontman Ed Robertson sings over shimmering, guitar-driven melody. The song was co-written by Robertson, Better Than Ezra’s Kevin Griffin and Steve Aiello of Thirty Second to Mars.

“I find myself in a reflective place,” Robertson shares in a press statement. “Feeling real gratitude and contentment. This was a fun song to write, and it’s been amazing to see the crowds reacting to it. We’re ‘Lovin’ Life!’”

This serves as the band’s first single since “Landed on My Head” in 2021. The song was featured on their latest album, Detour de Force.

Barenaked Ladies – whose current lineup is comprised of lead singer Robertson, bassist James Creeggan, drummer Tyler Stewart and keyboardist and guitarist Kevin Hearn – is embarking on their Last Summer on Earth 2023 American Tour. It kicked off June 23 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and continues through July 22, where it concludes at Pine Knob Music Theater in Clarkston, Michigan.
