The clip shows Starr adjusting a black hat that he’s wearing. It’s soundtracked by a mellow tune featuring twangy pedal-steel guitar and a strummed acoustic guitar. Accompanying the clip is a note that reads, “Look Up. Peace & Love, Ringo.”
The first post, which was uploaded on October 15, features a black-and-white photo of Starr wearing the same cowboy hat. The hat is pulled down to cover his eyes. Ringo also is wearing a denim jacket and a T-shirt with a peace sign on it.
Meanwhile, Ringo also has posted a new cover photo on his socials. It’s a cartoonish drawing of a hand making a peace sign. Atop the two extended fingers is a black cowboy hat.
More About Starr’s Country Album and Other Recent Projects
Starr first revealed his plans for a country-music project during a May 2023 press conference that promoted a new All Starr Band tour. At the time, Ringo said he was making an EP, inspired by an original country tune Burnett wrote for him. In an April 2024 video update, though, he revealed that he now was planning to release a 10-track album.
Starr hasn’t released a full album since What’s My Name in 2019. Since then, he’s put out five EPs, each featuring either four or five tracks. His latest EP, Crooked Boy, was released in April 2024. It featured four songs written and produced by Linda Perry.
In a May 2024 Zoom Q&A to promote Crooked Boy and his latest tour with his All Starr Band, Ringo shared some more details about the country album.
Starr said as he started working on the country project, he teamed up with veteran songwriter Gary Burr “and a couple of other people, and … wrote a country song.” As more songs came together, Ringo decided to upgrade the EP to an album.
In September, Billy Strings revealed in an interview with GQ that he played on Starr’s album, and that it was called Look Up.
About Starr’s First Country Album
The upcoming album won’t be Starr’s first country record. His second solo effort, Beaucoups of Blues, released in 1970, was an original country album that he recorded with Nashville session musicians.
