The singer-songwriter was one of the night’s biggest winners at the 16th annual Academy of Country Music Honors. The show aired on September 18, and Stapleton took home the trophy for the ACM Triple Crown Award.

According to the ACM website, this prestigious award is given out only to artists who have won an ACM Award in a new artist category, including female, male, duo, or group, and have also taken home the coveted Entertainer of the Year trophy.

In Stapleton’s case, he received Top New Male Vocalist in 2015, Top Male Vocalist two years later in 2017, and Entertainer of the Year in 2023 — making him the ninth-ever recipient of the coveted Triple Crown Award. He joins Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Brooks & Dunn, Barbara Mandrell, Mickey Gilley, Merle Haggard, and Kenny Chesney in the category.

When accepting the award, the country artist thanked his wife, kids, and fans for their never-ending support. “It’s a wonderful and rare thing to get to something that you love so much for a living,” Stapleton said onstage. “This is unbelievable that I continue to get to do this.”

It was announced on September 18 that Stapleton and Snoop Dogg are covering the 1981 classic Phil Collins track “In the Air Tonight” for Monday Night Football along with Cindy Blackman Santana backing on drums.

Stapleton is also confirmed to be hitting the road with George Strait in 2024. Find ticket information and tour dates here.

His newest track, “Think I’m in Love With You,” dropped earlier this month; it serves as the second pre-release track of his fifth studio album, Higher, set for release on November 10. It’s his first album since the 2020 Grammy-winning LP Starting Over.

He earned three nominations for the 57th annual CMA Awards as well. For this year’s edition, he’s up for Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year for “We Don’t Fight Anymore,” his collaboration with Carly Pearce. The award show is set to air on November 8 at 7 p.m. ET.
