Formed in London in 1997, Coldplay went on to become arguably the most successful band of the 20th century. With more than 100 million records sold and seven Grammy Awards, they are still going strong nearly 30 years later. In fact, their ongoing Music of the Spheres Tour recently became the highest-grossing rock tour of all time. But even with all that fame and recognition, people will still forget your songs sometimes. And Chris Martin and Co. recently handled such an incident with levity.
Coldplay Fan Fumbles Song Request
Coldplay recently extended their international Music of the Spheres tour into 2025, and it’s not hard to see why. With 9.6 million tickets sold since 2022, it’s officially the most attended tour of all time. That’s no easy feat when you exist at the same time as Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

Monday’s (Oct. 7) show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg was a little different, given that the venue only holds 650 people. However, what the crowd lacked in size, it made up for in enthusiasm—especially the man who shouted out his request for “Fix It” toward the end of the concert.
Even those not well versed in Coldplay’s discography could probably guess the man was referring to the band’s 2005 hit “Fix You,” off their third studio album X&Y. Still, Chris Martin couldn’t pass up a good roasting opportunity. “‘Fix It’ is another song from another band, my brother,” the “Viva La Vida” singer said, shaking his head.

Chris Martin Improvises New Song ‘Fix It’
Apparently finding inspiration in the gaffe, Martin later sat down at the piano and dedicated his freestyle of “Fix It” to the confused concertgoer.
Here is a song called ‘Fix It,’ specifically just for that guy/ It’s OK if you come to a concert to call out the name of a song / I’d much prefer you don’t get the name of the song wrong, the 47-year-old vocalist sang wryly.
Beautiful. We hope Chris Martin will remember the man when Coldplay is accepting next year’s Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
