Chris Martin is honoring those that the music community lost in the last year. The Coldplay frontman performed during the in memoriam segment at the 67th GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, bringing deep emotions to his rendition of his band’s song, “All My Love.”

Liam Payne, Kris Kristofferson, Marianne Faithfull, and Toby Keith were among the stars remembered during the tribute.
The seven-time GRAMMY winner most recently came out victorious at the 2009 ceremony when Coldplay’s Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends won three trophies. Martin has been nominated as recently as 2023, when his band’s Music of the Spheres got three nods.
Coldplay released its 10th album, Moon Music, in October. In an Instagram post leading up to the album’s release, Martin said that the project was “in response to struggling with all the conflict within oneself, within myself, and also all the conflict outside, and working out what the best response is.”
“I think what Moon Music is trying to say is maybe love is the best response, even when that feels difficult to do,” he said. “… It’s a reaction to feeling so powerless in the face of so many crazy things happening internally and externally, and looking for answers.”

The 2025 GRAMMY Awards
Martin was just one of many stars who took the stage on Sunday. Stevie Wonder, St. Vincent, Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Benson Boone also performed at the ceremony, which Trevor Noah hosted for the fifth straight year.
As for the nominees, Beyoncé leads the group with 11 nods. Charlie XCX, Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone follow that with seven nominations a piece. Taylor Swift, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter came in third with six nods total.
Of interest at the 2025 ceremony is the fact that Beyoncé, Carpenter, Eilish, Roan and Swift are all nominated the three big categories. Carpenter and Roan are also competing in the Best New Artist category. If either of them won all four general categories they’d be the first to do so since Eilish in 2020.
In the wake of the devastating California wildfires, the show itself looks a little different this year. The telecast been reimagined as a fundraiser to support wildfire relief efforts and aid music professionals impacted by the blazes. The Recording Academy and MusiCares got in on the fundraising efforts by pledging $1 million to the cause.
