Despite the title and this being Eminem’s 12th studio album, the word slinger is not calling it quits. As a matter of fact, he’s not even done with his newest album given that he will release the extended edition, Expanded Mourner’s Edition. The edition follows his newest album, Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce).

The announcement came in an Instagram post in which the rapper posted a trailer about the extension of his album. The extended edition will come out this Friday and surely will add to the plethora of success the album has already achieved.
Eminem’s Success
Since its release in early July, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s 200 Chart. Furthermore, the album acquired 700 million streams on Spotify in its first three weeks and has sold 281,000 units, per Royalty Exchange. Needless to say, Eminem’s four-year musical hiatus led to much anticipation, which then led to skyrocketing sales.
Given these towering numbers, it’s safe to say that Eminem’s extended edition will likely follow the same statistical track. Although, it’s always difficult to assume an album’s potential success, so for the time being, fans and critics will just have to wait.
Mourning Slim Shady
Nothing regarding the songs and their lyrics has become public knowledge. However, one can surmise that the songs will be a direct response to the death of Slim Shady. And surely the human dictionary will pull no punches in planting his alter ego in the grave. Hopefully, this will entail a surplus of iconic lines and verses, thus adding to his already magnificent lyrical collection.
In light of Eminem’s chart-topping new album, he plans to open for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on Wednesday, September 11. This will be his first performance at the show since 2010. Given that the announcement of his new album came on the day before he is set to perform, one can hope that he will pull out one of the songs of the extended edition. Catch Eminem perform at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards tonight at 8:00 pm EDT.
