Fans React to Opening Weekend of Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Movie

The wait is over. It’s the opening weekend of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour and her Swifties are flocking to the theaters en masse to relive all the excitement of her tour. Seldom has a movie generated such a visceral reaction from its audience. The fans are up out of their seats, singing along to Swift’s hits, and nailing her choreography.

Swift encouraged viewers to treat the movie like a concert. In an Instagram post, she said she hopes to see Swift-centric outfits, friendship bracelets, and crowd participation. Her fans have done what she asked—though we doubt they needed much convincing in the first place.

Footage of audience members dancing and singing along has started to surface online. Though most people are on board with the action, @theluckywill took to X (formerly Twitter) to fire back at any naysayers.

“Some of you are doing too much with complaining about people singing/dancing at the eras tour movie as if taylor didn’t encourage her fans to do exactly that,” the fan wrote.

We all know the Swifties are passionate, but they’ve gone the extra mile for the movie. Many have gone so far as to learn Swift’s choreography from the tour so that they can perform it alongside the singer-songwriter.

“I am vehemently against filming people in public without their knowledge otherwise I’d show you but in the Eras Tour Movie last night there were about four 11-year-olds who had every single piece of choreography memorized and were performing it along with Taylor in the aisle,” @dontblameklara wrote.

Though many people seeing the movie also caught the actual concert when Swift came to their city, the filmed version of the show provides some surprises.

“WHAT THE FUCK IM IN THE ERAS TOUR MOVIE,” @yyxyousef wrote, commenting on the surreal moment they saw themselves in the crowd.

The concert itself is three hours long, so Swift had to make some exceptions for the movie version. Another surprise came in the form of cut songs. Not all fans are happy about the songs Swift chose to leave out.

“Me when i see taylor after the show for removing long live from the eras tour movie,” @afterglowdan wrote alongside a video of a movie theater brawl, while @celestialswiftt added, “The archer being cut out from the eras tour movie is my villain origin story.”

The negative comments will likely be taken in good fun. We know the Swifties couldn’t stay mad at the singer for too long.

The overwhelming response to the film seems to be positive, with it debuting at 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes—but could we expect anything less from Swift?
