“It is with great and sincere regret that we announce the cancelation of all our remaining tour dates for the rest of the year due to an injury that Shirley sustained on our recent tour in Europe that will require surgery and rehabilitation to correct,” the post read. “This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we apologize wholeheartedly to our amazing fans and supportive promoters. We look forward to playing for you all again in 2025.”

At the time, they didn’t specify Manson’s injury, just that it would require surgery. Manson wrote in the caption of the post, “No one is more crushed about this than I am. You know I would push through if I could.”

Garbage Cancels Remainder of 2024 Tour, Hopes to Return to Stage in 2025

Garbage’s last tour date was on July 20 in Wembley, England, and it’s possible Manson could have gotten injured around that time. The cancelations include an appearance at Ohana Festival in California, which Devo is stepping in for. Garbage was supposed to play on September 27 along with Maren Morris, Pearl Jam, Dogstar, and more.

Fans were of course devastated that the tour is canceled, but more importantly wished Shirley Manson a speedy recovery. “The fans care most about you being healthy and well above all else. Wishing you a speedy recovery…Take good care of yourself,” one commenter wrote on Instagram. Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins replied to the post with praying hands and heart emojis.

Additionally, Kathleen Hanna of Bikini Kill commented, “Love you Shirley! I’m so sorry about your injury. I really hope the surgery goes well and people sneak you in some decent food!” Generally, fans and famous friends were supportive and wished Manson well in her recovery.
