The new edition of American Idiot will include the B-side “Governator,” a demo of “Wake Me Up When September Ends,” and a live recording of “St. Jimmy” from their 2005 VH1 Storytellers performance. The band also previously released three more bonuses—”Holiday/Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Demo),” B-side “Favorite Son,” and “Minority (Live from Irving Plaza).”
In addition to the bonus material, the deluxe edition also includes the new documentary 20 Years of American Idiot. There’s also the 2004-era movie Heart Like a Hand Grenade, which documented nine months of the recording process for the album.
While on their Saviors Tour this year, Green Day has been playing American Idiot in full in celebration of the 20th anniversary. They’ve also been celebrating the 30th anniversary of Dookie, which came out in 1994.
Green Day Pauses Detroit Show Due to Possible Security Issue
A recent Green Day show was put on pause in the middle of performing “Longview” when an unauthorized drone flew over the outdoor venue. The band was playing Comercia Park in Detroit when Mike Dirnt was pulled off stage by security. In a clip of the moment, Billie Joe Armstrong can be seen checking out what’s happening while in the middle of performing, looking stage left at his bandmate.
Armstrong then follows Dirnt off stage, with Tre Cool leaving his drums moments later. According to fans on social media, they were left wondering what happened for about 30 minutes. Green Day returned after that and continued the show in full.
Later, the band apologized to fans on social media. “Detroit! Sorry for the delay in the show tonight, Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue. DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding,” they wrote on Twitter.
