“Happy Tears Are Real”: Grammy-Nominated Singer and ‘The Voice’ Star Offers Positive Health Update

Jessie J has some good news to share. The Grammy-nominated singer and former longtime Voice coach, who’s currently battling breast cancer, recently took to Instagram to announce that her cancer has not spread.

She shared the news with a sweet video featuring her 2-year-old son, Sky. In the clip, Jessie told her son, “Mommy’s going to be OK.”

After the toddler repeated the sentence back to Jessie J, he proclaimed, “Love you” as she offered his a hug and kiss on the cheek.

In the caption of her post, Jessie J gave more details about her latest news.

“And…I AM OK. Results = I have NO cancer spread. Happy tears are real,” she wrote. “Thank YOU for the prayers, the love, the well wishes, the joy and all the positive energy.”

As for the precious video, Jessie J revealed that it was taken the night before she underwent surgery.

“You are my biggest ray of light and with you in my life the darkness will never win,” she wrote to her son.

Jessie J concluded her post, writing, “Lots of healing to go and one more surgery to make these cousins look more like sisters. But for now it’s gratitude time and I am changing my name to The LopJess monster.”

Jessie J’s Cancer Battle

The singer announced her cancer diagnosis back in June. That same month, she played her final planned show before starting treatment.

During her set, she told the crowd how “special” the performance was to her, before sharing what she’s grateful for.

“My family, my band, my crew,” she said. “We are so lucky, we have so much to live for, so much joy, so much, so many things to do.”

“One of my favourite shows I have ever done in the past 15 years of this beautiful crazy life of mine. Wow,” she wrote on Instagram after her performance. “The love 80,000 people showed me yesterday was the exact definition of 🫀🔋. Thank you.”

“I will never forget that moment ever. I am so lucky to feel that support,” Jessie J added. “And anyone else going through cancer right now. I am sharing it with you. I’m throwing hands at my cancer and yours.”

Shortly thereafter, Jessie J shared a post about “the honest lows and highs” she experienced in the days surrounding her surgery.

“Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now,” she wrote in part. “We all got this!”
