In anticipation of his forthcoming record—Lovers and Leavers—country singer-songwriter Hayes Carll released “The Love That We Need.” The new song premiered on NPR Music earlier this week, providing fans with a taste of what’s to come when Lovers and Leavers drops on Apr. 8.
The album will be Carll’s first since 2011, when he released KMAG YOYO (& Other American Stories) to critical acclaim. Lovers and Leavers consists of ten tracks that were recorded live during a five-day stint in Los Angeles. The full track list can be seen below.
For this record, fans should expect to see vulnerability from the Grammy-nominated artist.
“Lovers and Leavers isn’t funny or raucous. There are very few hoots and almost no hollers,” Carll says in a press release. “But it is joyous, and it makes me smile.”
Most recently, Carll received a Grammy nomination for his song “Chances Are.” The track, which is on KMAG YOYO, was also recorded by Lee Ann Womack and is in the running for “Best Country Song” at this year’s awards.
