While kicking off a new season back in February, the stage is set on The Voice as the blind auditions are officially over. And for coach Adam Levine, he snagged the last singer to fill his team. Although having a background in rock, the singer landed a country artist in contestant Trevon Dawson. With each team full, Levine admitted he might need to get a little help from his friend and former competitor Blake Shelton when it came to country music.

Taking the stage, Dawson caught the ear of Levine when he performed Bailey Zimmerman’s “Religiously.” Although other coaches like Kelsea Ballerini and John Legend already had a full team, Ballerini couldn’t help but discuss the gravity of the situation. “Well hey, cowboy. You arguably had the highest stakes performance because our teams are full. There is one spot left for this season and it’s Adam’s and he is tough because Blake [Shelton] has broken his heart over and over and over again.”
Although her first season on The Voice, like any fan, Ballerini knew the past between Levine and Shelton when it came to the show. “That’s a long time of loving a genre that you just don’t get to do because Blake… I think he has a lot to work through but maybe this is fate.”

Adam Levine Can’t Wait to Go Country – “We’re Gonna Kiss A**”
As for Levine, he shared his excitement about adding one last voice to his team. And when speaking with Dawson about his talents, the singer insisted, “He has one of these young country voices that I hear a lot. You listen to the guys that are killing it right now in country music, and I think he can do it. I can’t wait to coach country. We’re gonna kick a**.”
Without Shelton there to steal all the country singers, Levine found himself dabbling in a new genre. But he didn’t seem worried thanks to Shelton. “I’m going to call my friend Blake Shelton, and I’m going to be like, ‘Hey stupid. Help me.’”
With the Battle Rounds kicking off, don’t miss a new episode of The Voice, airing on Monday, March 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
