Country-pop star Brett Young scored his first No. 1 single with 2017’s “In Case You Didn’t Know.” His latest release, 2023’s Across the Sheets, peaked at No. 39 on Billboard’s U.S. Top Country Albums. Currently, the 39-year-old former college pitcher is nearing the end of his Live in Concert Fall 2024, which wraps up Saturday (Oct. 26) in Durham, North Carolina. And a recent show in Detroit nearly came to a premature end when multiple scuffles broke out in the crowd.

Brett Young: “It’s Always Someone, Y’all”
These days, Brett Young mostly writes songs about his wife and two young daughters. That hardly sounds like an ideal brawling backdrop, but nevertheless, fans persisted.
Following Young’s Oct. 18 show in Detroit, Michigan, footage emerged of the “Lady” hitmaker standing shell-shocked onstage as several scuffles break out at The Fillmore Detroit.

“It’s always someone, y’all. I’m sorry,” Young said in one video.
But the skirmishes don’t stop. “Be right back,” Young says eventually. He leaves the stage, promising he’ll resume performing once security has escorted out the ones responsible.
“Not One Song Requires a Fight”
Online, fans found themselves just as confused as Brett Young himself. “Now, what’s going on in your life that makes you wanna fight during a Brett Young show?” one fan wondered on X/Twitter. “He had to leave the show!”
Another TikTok user wrote, “Not one Brett Young song requires a fight lmao.”
“I cry at his concerts,” agreed another user. “Who fights at them?”
Young eventually returned to the stage, chuckling as he said, “This is incredible to me, that this happens at Brett Young concerts.”
Resuming his set, Young had some additional words for the audience.
“You guys, you have my full permission to not — and I can’t believe I’m saying this — get in any more fights tonight, please,” he said. “I love you. Let’s play some music.”
