During his career, Keith Urban showcased his love for country music as he released numerous studio albums and quickly became a top name in the genre. Holding the spotlight for over 30 years, the country singer collaborated with some of the biggest stars in the industry including Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, and The Chicks. And outside of the studio, Urban married award-winning actress Nicole Kidman. Sharing a life and family together, the singer recently opened up about his newest album High and how he originally had an entirely different album in mind before tossing it out.

With such experience in the music industry, some might believe recording hit songs comes naturally for Urban. But that isn’t the case. Just like any singer or songwriter, Urban often wondered if what he was recording was right. He told People that before releasing High, “I scrapped another album. I finished an album in early 2023, 13 tracks, and decided to scrap pretty much the whole thing.”
Growing frustrated over not finding the right sound, Urban continued, “Sometimes, if I don’t know what to do, I’ll start with figuring out what I don’t want to do, and I made the record that I didn’t want to make apparently to figure out which one did I want to make.”

Keith Urban Gushes Over Nicole Kidman’s New Netflix Show
Although Urban loved what he produced in the end, at the time, he insisted, “It was not a good time for me. But I just stayed the course and did what was flowing. Then this record got finished, and now I see it in hindsight and go, ‘I’m so glad that I followed it.’”
Outside of the studio, Urban took a moment to gush over his wife and her new miniseries The Perfect Couple. Available to Netflix, apparently, Urban already watched the entire season. “I saw the whole thing before it came out, binged it. It’s been amazing. I’ve had so many people stop me and say how much they love it.”
As for any potential spoilers, Urban laughed, “I’m the best secret keeper you’ll ever meet. I’ll go to my grave with secrets.”
