Jane’s Addiction imploded in somewhat spectacular fashion during the band’s 2024 reunion tour after frontman Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro onstage at a September 13 concert in Boston. The rest of the tour was canceled after the incident, with Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins issuing a joint statement expressing their regret while citing Farrell’s “continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties” as the reason for discontinuing the trek.

Now, it appears that Navarro, Avery, and Perkins are in the process of teaming up for a new musical project. Avery posted video clip on his social media pages showing him recording a bass part in a home studio. He accompanied the clip with a note that reads, “Writing some more new lines to some of Stephen’s drumming. Look forward to getting some Mr. Navarro on them. 2025!”

Fans React to Avery’s Post
Avery’s video clip and message spurred a variety of fans to share their reactions to the news in the comments section of Eric’s Instagram page.
“Eric, that sounds beautiful already,” one fan wrote. “Apart from being incredibly thankful to have seen Jane’s again this last time around, I’m actually more thankful to see that you, Dave and Stephen are still together, firing creatively and moving forward.”
Another fan commented, “Makes my heart content that the three of you are creating together and moving forward. … I had a lucid dream recently that you, Perkins and Navarro formed a new band with a female singer. It sounded incredible in my dreamscape concert!”
A third fan enthused, “So glad you guys recognize the musical chemistry you have and are carrying on.”
Meanwhile, former Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner offered his services to the new project.
“Let me know if you need a guy on the other side!!” he said.
More About the Aborted Jane’s Addiction Reunion
Jane’s Addiction’s 2024 reunion tour began with a May 23 concert in London. It marked the first trek to feature the band’s four original members since March 2010.
In conjunction with the tour, Jane’s Addiction released two new singles. The first, “Imminent Redemption,” arrived on July 24, 2024. The second, “True Love,” was released on September 18, two days after the band officially announced the tour’s cancellation.
After the onstage altercation on September 13, Farrell issued an apology that he posted on his Instagram page.
The statement read, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
In a separate social media post, Farrell’s wife, Etty, shared her own account of the onstage fight. She also explained that Perry had been experiencing vocal issues and was frustrated about how loud the band was playing onstage before tensions came to a head.
