Perry Farrell Takes “Full Accountability” For Punching Dave Navarro
Recently, Perry Farrell took to his Instagram Stories to apologize for throwing a punch at his bandmate during Friday’s (Sept. 13) show at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston, Massachusetts.
Reflecting on an “incredibly difficult” weekend, the 65-year-old vocalist apologized to his bandmates—”especially Dave Navarro—” fans, family and friends.
“Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior,” Farrell wrote in the Sept. 16 post. He added that he takes “full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”
Jane’s Addiction Has Canceled All Remaining Tour Dates
On the same day, Jane’s Addiction announced the decision to cancel the rest of their North American tour in a post to their official Instagram page. “Refunds for the canceled dates will be available at your point of purchase,” the post read.
Navarro, along with drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery, elaborated further in a joint statement posted to their respective Instagram accounts. The trio stated that “a continuing pattern of behavior” from singer Perry Farrell, along with his “mental health difficulties,” left them with no choice but to scrap the tour.
They added that they hope Farrell “will find the help he needs.”
Video footage posted online showed the Boston concert coming to an abrupt end after Farrell shoved and punched Navarro. Farrell was restrained by crew members and a man who appeared to be bassist Eric Avery as he threw punches and was pulled away from Navarro, according to USA Today.
Earlier this year, Jane’s Addiction—known for edgy ’90s hits like “Jane Says” and “Been Caught Stealing”—seemed prime for a comeback. The original lineup of Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins and Eric Avery reunited onstage in May for the first time since 2010.
After releasing their first single in 34 years, the alt-rock pioneers kicked off a reunion tour in early August. The “Imminent Redemption” Tour would have wrapped up Oct. 16 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles.
