Jason Isbell and his band the 400 Unit have announced the first leg of their extensive upcoming US tour, which kicks off June 17 in Asheville, NC. The run will see Isbell and co. performing at several venues for the very first time, including Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD and PNC Pavilion in Columbus, OH.

The Nashville singer-songwriter is finishing up work on his next album, the followup to his critically acclaimed 2015 release Something More Than Free. Reuniting with producer Dave Cobb, Isbell recorded the album at the famed RCA Studio A on Nashville’s Music Row. The album will be his first with the 400 Unit since the band’s 2011 album Here We Rest.

Isbell and the 400 Unit will release a special six song EP for Record Store Day on April 22 titled Live At Welcome To 1979. The vinyl-only release features five covers – The Rolling Stones’ “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” and “Sway”, John Prine’s “Storm Windows”, Candi Staton’s “Heart On A String” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City” – and a performance of Isbell’s track “Never Gonna Change.”
