“It is known as Country Music’s biggest night. It literally doesn’t get any bigger than this and I have 5 nominations. I couldn’t control myself when I got the news .. everything about this is unreal,” the singer shared in a lengthy Instagram post. He goes on to say that being nominated is a win in itself and that being recognized by his peers in the industry is an honor. But the meaning of the nominations goes deeper.

“This is a win for all the underdogs and forgotten. These are the moments I hope my people are the most proud of, that I have taken our message to the masses without compromise and have been embraced,” he expressed. “Thank you to CMA’s. This is magical and you can bet the farm that my wife and I will show up dressed to impress yet trashy as ever.”

Jelly Roll successfully crossed over from a long career in rap music into country music when his debut country single, “Son of a Sinner,” topped the Billboard Country Airplay chart. Whitsitt Chapel, his first full country album, hit No. 2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, as well as No. 1 on both the Top Rock Albums and Independent Albums charts in June 2023.

Wilson is the leading CMA nominee with nine nominations. The CMA Awards air live from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on November 8 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET.
