Josh Turner to Release Greatest Hits Album

Josh Turner is exploring some of his biggest hits on a new compilation album. On September 8, the baritone singer will release his first greatest hits album, Josh Turner: Greatest Hits, which encompasses some of his biggest career tracks. Turner has selected 11 songs across his more than two-decade career that topped the charts, along with a pair of faith-based songs.

The album opens with his 2006 hit, “Would You Go With Me,” which also served as the opening track of his album, Your Man. It’s followed by “Firecracker,” “Hometown Girl,” “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” his first No. 1 hit, “Your Man,” and others.

The album closes with two faith-oriented songs, the originals “Me and God” and “I Serve a Savior.” The former song was written solely by Turner and also featured on Your Man, while “I Serve a Savior” was co-written by the singer and Mark Narmore and featured on his 2018 album of the same name.

“When you start out in this business, you’re never guaranteed longevity,” Turner says in a press release. “I’m humbled and thankful that I’m still around making music and that I’ve done well enough for long enough to warrant releasing a Greatest Hits album.”

Another career-defining hit “Long Black Train” is also featured. Turner is currently celebrating the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough song that he wrote alone when he was a college student at Belmont University based on a vision he had walking back to his apartment.

“I think it’s a message that I don’t think will ever go away or fizzle out,” Turner told American Songwriter about “Long Black Train.” “I think it’s something that’s just as relevant, if not more relevant, today than it was when I wrote it. I know everybody on this planet wakes up every morning with a choice to make, they can either give into temptation, or they can resist it. And so we all have our own long black train that we’re dealing with. So it’s a choice we make day in and day out, and that never goes away.”

The South Carolina native is currently on the Long Black Train 20th Anniversary Tour.
