At just 23 years old, Billie Eilish already boasts nine Grammy Awards. She could win seven more at next Sunday’s (Feb. 2) ceremony, mostly thanks to her summer 2024 smash hit “Birds of a Feather.” And if the Grammy nods and chart accolades weren’t enough validation, the breezy yet dark anthem just got the Kelly Clarkson treatment.

Watch Kelly Clarkson Perform “Birds of a Feather” By Billie Eilish
For those of you living under a rock for the last 23 years, Kelly Clarkson can sing. She rose to prominence performing other artists’ work during the inaugural season of American Idol, which she won. Clarkson has released plenty of original material since then, including “Stronger” and “Since U Been Gone.” However, make no mistake—the 17-time Grammy nominee can still sing the hell out of someone else’s song.
That’s exactly what she did during the latest “Kellyoke” segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show. The former Voice coach delivered a flawless spin on Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather.” Fans heaped praise on the performance, with one YouTube user writing, “Having your song covered by Kelly should be some kind of award, cause It’s a pure gold kinda validation! U got Clarksoned.”
Another added, “The song that Kelly cannot sing in stunning grace will remain unwritten.”
Some called for Clarkson to release her own version of the song, while others wanted to see her join forces with Eilish. “You need to have her on the show and do a duet!” one YouTube user exclaimed.
Another fan agreed, writing, “I hate the “break the internet” term. But that would actually….break the internet.”
It’s Not The First Time Clarkson Has Performed a Billie Eilish Tune
Kelly Clarkson has tackled a good portion of Billie Eilish’s musical catalogue on the Kellyoke stage. In 2021, the “Miss Independent” singer went viral for a soaring version of “Happier Than Ever,” off Eilish’s album of the same name.
“That song just was so, I think, poignant for so many people,” Clarkson said in a 2022 interview with Billboard. “So that one really did hit home for me and I really, really, really wanted to do that one.
The American Idol champion, 42, had nothing but praise for her younger counterpart. “I cover her all the time, I love her music. Just a really great songwriter,” she said. “And even the vibe of the songs, their team is just so good.”
