After winning a few awards at the 2024 Grammy Awards, Mike looked to celebrate his accomplishments in the red carpet area. Ready to enjoy himself and rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in music, the rapper found himself mixing words with a security guard.

According to the lawsuit, “Despite Plaintiff’s multiple attempts to clarify his identity and purpose for being in that secured area and his direct need to access the red carpet area for scheduled public statements and to take photographs, Defendants refused Plaintiff any forward movement. When Plaintiff sought to leave the area, Defendants physically assaulted and battered him to prevent him from leaving by grabbing his arm and telling him to remain there.”

Killer Mike Demands Accountability In Lawsuit

Claiming that the security assaulted him and performed a false arrest, Mike is suing both JRM Private and S&S Labor Force, Inc. While finding himself in custody, the rapper was released just hours later and the  Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office decided not to bring charges forward.

Even with Mike moving past the incident, he insisted on holding the parties involved accountable as the lawsuit declared, “Defendants knew, or in the exercise of reasonable diligence should have known, that there was no justification in law to detain or use excessive force against Plaintiff at a Grammy Awards ceremony meant to celebrate his work. Notwithstanding that knowledge, Defendants caused the false arrest and wrongful imprisonment of Plaintiff.”

Outside his troubles with the law, Mike made the most out of 2024 when he released his latest album Songs for Sinners & Saints in August.
