Kim Petras is saying “brrr” with her new single.

The song features a throbbing beat layered by Petras’ crisp vocals as she takes on the persona of a fearless character. The steamy lyrics beckon the person who’s caught her eye to take me on a ride / You should pull me up closer / Turn the heat up in your Rover / Why don’t you take it out on me? / If you think you’re so cold, brrr / You should pull me up closer / Get your rocket outta holster / Why don’t you take it out on me? / If you think you’re so cold, brrr, she chants in the chorus.
“I’m so excited for you to hear this,” Petras shares with fans on Instagram about “brrr.” “It’s one of the funnest rollouts I’ve done in a while. I miss you all so much and I hope this song gives you a taste of what’s to come this year. I’m so excited to perform it for you soon! Let me know if you dig it …”
“Brrr” follows her previous solo single, “If Jesus Was a Rock Star” and the success of her hit duet with Sam Smith, “Unholy.” The latter song made history as the first time an openly transgender woman (Petras) and non-binary artist (Smith) had a No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. The song has charted in multiple other countries, including hitting No. 1 in Smith’s native England on the U.K. Singles chart. “Unholy” is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2023 Grammy Awards. This marks Petras’ first Grammy nomination.
Petras will make the live debut performance of “brrr” on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday (Jan. 23), airing at 12:35 p.m. ET on NBC. She’ll also perform “Unholy” on the late-night show. Petras is set to perform at the Governor’s Ball in New York City, which takes place June 9-11, and will jet across the globe for a headlining set at Sydney WorldPride in Australia on March 5.
