The American Idol season 10 runner-up has put together a six-song EP that features a collaboration with Lainey Wilson on the closing track “Thicc As Thieves,” which Alaina co-wrote with Luke Bryan, Rocky Block, Dallas Davidson, Jacob Durrett and Parker Welling. Cole Swindell is also one of the co-writers on “Smaller the Town.” The powerhouse vocalist went back to her roots in Rossville, Georgia, to gain inspiration for the project that marks her first since signing with Big Loud Records in July 2022.

“I want you to know me,” Alaina states in an Instagram video showcasing clips of her hometown, writing and recording in the studio, and spending time with loved ones. “And the truth is, it took me a long time to get to know me too. Let’s start where we always have before – my name is Lauren and my new EP Unlocked comes out next week.”

“It’s been 13 years since we first met, and until a couple of years ago, I don’t know that I ever slowed down for more than a day or two at a time,” she adds in a press release. “I spent more time with the people that matter most to me – my family, my fiancé, my friends – during that period than I had in years. This music comes from my heart and my hometown. I am who I am because of where and who I come from, and I’m more me today than I’ve ever been. I can’t wait to unlock this next chapter with you.”

Alaina’s last album was Sitting Pretty on Top of the World in 2021. The EP will drop on Friday (June 9), with two songs set for release at midnight on Friday (June 2).
